At the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, we serve seniors in Bernal Heights, the Outer Mission, and the Excelsior. We are in need of volunteers to drive and/or accompany elderly clients to their medical appointments and other vital appointments. Through the Neighborhood Elders Support Team program (NEST), Case Managers make referrals for volunteer assistance. Volunteers are called upon as needs arise. This is an opportunity that works very well with someone who has a flexible schedule and wants to volunteer on an as-needed basis.

Prospective volunteers fill out an application, are interviewed and go through a background check. In most cases, the volunteer uses their own vehicle to transport the clients and so volunteer would need to have a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and current auto insurance coverage.
