Knit or crochet a warm and colorful gift for Afghan families. We accept newly knitted and crocheted wool blankets, mittens, hats, socks, sweaters, and vests. Also a good project for youth and community groups. For program details, due dates, and mailing addresses, see our Guidelines page -- http://www.afghansforAfghans.org/blanket.html

Overall Experience
People to people support in a time of war

Volunteering for afghans for Afghans in the Bay Area is made even more rewarding because our work facilitates volunteers from all over the US and Canada. I visualize individual and groups of knitters making garments and blankets to share with PEOPLE in a country far away, whose only other experience with North Americans relates to war and terrifying situations. We all are making strong statements, different from Madame LaFarge, taking a stand for a people to people approach to world peace. posted by keikokub on May 3, 2007 |
